5.3 FREE FLIGHT HAND LAUNCH 5.3.1 General The competition is open to all unpowered free flight models whose wing span is 24” or less. The glider must be launched
by hand without mechanical aids. The competitor shall, use no more than two models, or
parts thereof. The competitor will be the owner of the models used in the competition.
5.3.2 Equipment The Club shall provide: – A reliable calculator. The CD will time the
competition flying time. Competitors are expected to provide stop watches to time flights.
5.3.3 The competition The number of flights will be a maximum of 10. All models will be
launched by the pilot, or his nominated launcher. The competition will start at 10.30 am, no
practice flights will be allowed once the competition has started. All flights must be
completed by 12.30 pm. Maximum flight time of 3 minutes. 5.3.4 Scoring The time for
each score will be rounded DOWN to the nearest 1/10th of a second, e.g. 14.68 secs will be
14.6 secs. The aggregate of the best 5 flights will determine the winner. In the event of
